OVERVIEW

Gutterborn and a bastard, Gendry spent much his life thinking he was nothing special. Though like all boys he dreamed of knighthood, he was never meant for such a life. He was baseborn and common and spent his earliest years in childhood. But in spite of that, he was gifted an unexpected boon in his childhood when an unknown benefactor paid for his apprenticeship with the greatest smith in all of the Seven Kingdoms, a man known as Tobho Mott. For years Gendry learned from the master armorer as he mastered the various aspects of the trade. Before he left his master's service, his work was appraised as being as good as a journeyman's, though it was masterful in its own right.

Gendry's life changed when the old king, Robert Baratheon, was killed by a boar. Gendry the bastard was soon wanted by soldiers, for reasons he did not know why. Two King's Hands had come to look at him and subsequently died for the trouble. On the road, he befriended the highborn Arya Stark, but saw the great suffering of the smallfolk inflicted by highborn lords on both sides of the war. Imbued with a stubborn sense of justice, he joined the Brotherhood Without Banners as an outlaw knight to protect the commonfolk from those who would exploit or slaughter them. In that time, he became a kind of guardian to a inn full or orphans, even as he forged his own sword and played his part in leading highborn lords and knights to the noose, never knowing that his real father was King Robert Baratheon.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS
  • SMITHING
Gendry is considered a journeyman of his craft, but he has a natural talent so that his work is nearly a master's quality. He has learned all there is to know of traditional smithing and has begun to learn fairy enchantments and dwarven techniques to enhance his work.
  • TECHNO-MAGIC
Gendry has begun to learn the mechanical magic that is exclusively known only to the dwarven smiths of Troichean Beinn. Though still a novice, he has begun to gain a greater understanding of mechanical processes. He is not permitted to use the magic outside of Troichean Beinn.
  • SHARD MASTERY
Trained by Reynard shortly after his arrival, Gendry has learned to draw superhuman strength and stamina from his shard. It is put to use daily as he uses it in his daily forge work.
  • MELEE COMBAT
Gendry has learned swordplay from the likes of Lem Lemoncloak, Reynard, Jon Snow, and Loras Tyrell. Yet he is no skilled warrior and he relies more on strength than skill. Although he trains, he does not prioritize it.

QUEST LOG
  • SIEGE OF CAER SCIMA
Early on, Gendry and the other Seelie forces were ordered to a siege of Caer Scima in order to retrieve an an ancient Seelie weapon from the depths of the castle. Though reluctant to do service to these fairy monarchs, he was eager to prove himself a worthy knight. During the battle, he crossed swords with Ser Jaime Lannister and was soundly defeated. Following the battle, he pursued Sansa Stark when she panicked at the mention of the mention of the Kingslayer. By the time he caught up with her, they were stranded and forced to travel back to Caer Glaem through the treacherous Dorchadas.
  • TRAINING WITH REYNARD
Ser Gendry was counted among the five men that Ser Lancelot invited to join him for a private training session in the mountains of Maupertius. There Gendry received training from the Fox, Lord Reynard. He learned to use his Shard, though his talent with a sword improved little under the fox's tutelage. However they were ultimately betrayed over dinner when Reynard lashed out and tried to steal their Shards. A battle broke out and they only narrowly escaped, though Gendry barred the Unseelie messenger in with the traitor. Gendry took a wound in the battle and traveled to the Station to recover.
  • DOORWAY TO BEYOND
At long last Gendry took advantage of his invitation to the dwarven city to begin his training. He met with Bordan Gret and took an instant liking to the amiable dwarven master. He did not travel alone, as Sansa Stark traveled to be a representative for her father. Eddard's disappearance meant Sansa was the new Keepr and so Gendry became wrapped up in new troubles when Queen Morla began plotting to marry her to the Unseelie lord, Saralegui. Gendry ultimately played a part in breaking up the marriage, but only by relenting to setting up a meeting for Saralegui and Bordan Gret. Afterward he was witness to what the Door to the Beyond truly was - a portal home.
  • DEFENSE OF THE COTHROMACH
After discovering the Cothromach was under siege, Gendry felt guilty about his part in inviting Morla's wrath on the city. Rather than raise a sword to fight, Gendry rallied the smiths of the city to begin supplying enchanted weapons to the defenders that would allow them to stand against the fire elementals outside. With the status as one of Bordan Gret's apprentices, Gendry quickly earned the respect and support of the native craftsmen. Though he did not fight in the battle, he was ultimately named a Shield of Cothromach.
